Mediocrity

Mediocrity dampens,
Like a cloak inhibiting your skills,
Leaden with the weight of your incompetence,
You recede into a state of fear and incomprehension,
Cocooned in a world of your own creation you reside,
Constantly in fear of the challenge that awaits outside.

Hmm I wrote that...feeling very blue I guess. The only word I fear and loathe is mediocrity, just to always be no one and still someone.

I once wrote a post about mediocrity and didn't publish it.

I think what really happens when we grow up and get into the real world is that we have an image of ourselves in our mind and we find it hard to live up to that image just because that image was built using assumptions about ourselves which were not quite accurate.

And at this stage we tend to feel that we are mediocre instead of reassessing our capabilities from a fresh perspective.

The realization of one's own 'mediocrity' (for want of a better word) is good, but instead of feeling 'blue' one should try and correct the situation.
